一般以为,显微裂纹的发生是因为片状马氏体在高速长大时,相互碰击的成果;也可能是因为马氏体和奥氏体晶界或其他杂质相碰所造成。因为碰击时发生很高的应力,而片状马氏体比较脆,不能发生塑性变形使其应力松懈,因而便易发生显微裂纹。

(2)在实践生产中,钢制工件常因为结构设计不合理、钢材挑选不妥、淬火温度操控不正确、淬火冷速不合适等因素,一方面增大淬火内应力,使已构成的淬火显微裂纹扩展,构成淬火裂纹。另一方面,因为增大了显微裂纹的敏感度,添加了显微裂纹的数量,降低了钢材的脆断抗力,从而增大淬火裂纹的构成可能性。
